Better Georgia

Don’t let Georgia’s part-time, conservative lawmakers rewrite American history.

Tell Georgia politicians to let educators do their jobs.

“Gov. Deal and Georgia lawmakers: We request that you stop trying to write your own version of American history and let educators do their job.

Your personal beliefs about what should and shouldn’t be included in AP American history classes should not guide Georgia’s course curriculum.”

Conservative legislators in Georgia are trying to rewrite history -- literally. Along with other conservatives like Senators Ligon and McKoon, Sen. Fran Millar wants to change Georgia’s AP American history curriculum.

    Why?

Because they believe that the current national standards include too much about “social justice” and not enough about “American exceptionalism.”

There’s no doubt that America is exceptional.

But that doesn’t give Georgia’s right-wing politicians the right to tinker with course standards because they believe that educators should teach subjects in a certain way.

Tell part-time state lawmakers to keep their hands off of American history course standards and let Georgia’s teachers teach.
