Better Georgia

It’s time for an independent investigation of Gov. Nathan Deal

Taxpayers owe
$3 million in Gov. Deal's cover-up.

Attorney General Olens, I am requesting that you appoint an independent Special Assistant Attorney General to:

(1) independently reopen and complete the original Deal investigation given there is now ample evidence that this investigation was never completed and instead was the subject of serious tampering; and

(2) independently assess the actions of the Commission and other state employees who were responsible for the tampering and the apparently unlawful treatment of the Commission staff who participated in the Deal Investigation.

Subject: Demand an independent investigation into the Deal campaign case and cover-up.
We're fed up with the cover-up. Georgia taxpayers now owe more than $3 million for the cover-up of the investigation in Gov. Deal's campaign.

I just signed a petition demanding Attorney General Sam Olens appoint an independent Special Assistant Attorney General to independently investigate the original Deal campaign finance case and the ensuing cover-up.

Will you join me and sign the petition?

    We're fed-up with the cover-up.

While Georgia families struggle, Gov. Deal is using our tax dollars like a personal legal defense fund--and we've had enough.

The state recently finalized settlements with three former employees of the Georgia Ethics Commission connected with the commission’s investigation of Gov. Nathan Deal’s 2010 campaign.

Those settlements, combined with the jury verdict in favor of the commission’s former director, mean Georgia taxpayers now owe more than $3 million for the cover-up of the investigation into Gov. Deal’s campaign.

It’s now more apparent than ever that Gov. Deal’s team interfered with the investigation into his own campaign finances.

Attorney General Sam Olens has denied previous requests for an independent investigation, claiming that the requests were politically motivated. But this isn’t about politics. It’s about the truth.

Georgians deserve honesty and transparency from their elected officials, and it starts with a full, independent investigation of both the original Deal campaign finance case and the cover-up that ensued. We can’t afford to wait any longer.
